Keeping the Heat on for Families in our Community

Each winter, many families struggle to warm their homes when the temperatures drop. Warming Hands and Hearts is a United Way of the Eastern Panhandle initiative that coordinates efforts to keep the heat on for the neediest of our community members.

This is accomplished by pooling existing funds from Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) and charitable and faith-based organizations then supplementing those dollars with donations from the Warming Hands and Hearts fund.  Warming Hands and Heats is used to fill the gaps when all other resources are exhausted.

The goal of Warming Hands and Hearts is to ensure that every family in Berkeley, Jefferson, and Morgan counties with a legitimate need is assisted.  Unfortunately, the ability to provide assistance is limited to the dollars that are donated/granted to the Warming Hands and Hearts Fund.

Roach Energy and ROCS Convenience Stores are partnering with the United Way of the Eastern Panhandle to help local families pay their utility bills. There are four easy ways to help:

  1. Like ROCS or Roach on Facebook and we’ll donate  $1
  2. Buy a coffee mug at our ROCS stores and we’ll donate $2
  3. For every gallon of heating oil or propane we sell through April 1st, we’ll donate 1 cent (Just ask for the Warming Hands and Hearts truck to make your delivery)
  4. Make a contribution and BP America and ROCS Convenience will match donations dollar for dollar, up to $6500

If you would like to make an online donation here, please make sure to designate “Warming Hands & Hearts” or “WHH” in the Designation section.

Or you can complete a pledge form here.

Please include “Warming Hands & Hearts” or “WHH” in the memo line of the check.
